‘It’s Surreal’: Boise Teacher’s Ideas Go From Kitchen Table to Target & Toy of the Year Nominee

Idaho math teacher Eric Olsen has found success beyond the classroom as a game creator. His first game, Glyphics, launched in 2022 and hit Target shelves. His latest creation, Flip 7, is now a finalist for Game of the Year at the 2025 Toy Fair. While balancing teaching and serving as principal at Idaho Technical Career Academy, Olsen encourages students to pursue their passions, saying, “If there’s something you want to do, you can figure it out and make it happen.”
