5 Boise students qualify for national business conference

Five students at an online, public high school in Boise recently qualified for a national conference.

“Through BPA, our students discover how their passions can translate into real-world opportunities,” said Shelly S. Edmunson, business education teacher and BPA advisor at ITCA. “Watching them grow in confidence and professionalism has been incredibly rewarding, and now they have the opportunity to share their talents on a national stage. It’s a privilege to guide them on that path.”

Eleventh grader Argento, from Boise, will represent ITCA in prepared speech. Denning, a sophomore from Chubbuck, will represent for health research presentation. Pierce, a Hazelton senior, will cover fundamentals of web design. Stanaway, a Post Falls junior, will cover legal office procedures. And Wohali, a senior from Athol, will represent ITCA in the area of integrated office applications and advanced office systems and procedures.

“ITCA has given me the support and opportunity to explore what I care about — and BPA has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone,” Argento said. “Competing in prepared speech helped me find my voice and gain confidence, and I’m excited to take those skills to the national level and connect with others who share similar goals.”

Denning, along with Lu Ottle, an ITCA senior from Twin Falls, both registered for the Leadership Academy. Ottle previously represented the school at regional competitions.
