$5,000 April 14 Essay, Must be a 11th or 12th grader

Horatio Alger Association

$7,000 (25) October 25

Must pursue a BA at the U of I in CdA or Moscow Campus, or LCSC at the CdA or Lewiston campus only. Can also start at NIC and transfer to U of I or LCSC

 

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student

Varies December 5th Any High School Senior who is a US Citizen. Applicatns need not be related to a member of the Elks. Male and Female Students compete separately. All applicants progress through local, district, state and national judging.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program

Varies on Need January 13 African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American, US Citizen, GPA of 3.3. Leardership abilities. Check website for other criteria.

Free Speech Essay Contest

Varies by winner January 1st Any high school junior or senior who is a US Citizen is eligible to apply. The essay must be 800-1,000 words in length following the prompt: "Why is free speech important at our nation's colleges and universities?"
